What’s the Job?
We’re looking for a talented Health and Safety Compliance Lead to join the Estates Department.
This is an important College-wide role, providing professional and practical health and safety advice, guidance and support to managers and colleagues across a diverse range of teaching, learning and working environments.
Working closely with the Facilities Manager, you will help ensure that effective health and safety arrangements are in place across the College, while taking a proactive role in identifying opportunities to improve working practices and strengthen our health and safety culture.
This is a varied and visible role. You will work directly with curriculum and support teams, providing practical advice and constructive challenge, undertaking inspections and audits, supporting risk assessments, investigating incidents and near misses and helping managers identify appropriate and proportionate solutions.
You will also support the development and review of health and safety policies and procedures, monitor actions and compliance, analyse trends, deliver training and awareness activities and help ensure that learning from incidents and reviews leads to sustainable improvements.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone with professional health and safety experience who combines sound technical knowledge with a practical, approachable and solutions-focused style.
You will be comfortable working independently and engaging proactively with colleagues across the organisation. You will have the confidence to provide professional advice, influence working practices and constructively challenge where improvements are needed, while recognising that effective health and safety is achieved by working collaboratively with managers and staff.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
