Health & Safety Compliance Officer
Hunmanby, North Yorkshire | Full-time | On-site

We are looking for a proactive Health & Safety Compliance Officer to join our team at our Hunmanby, North Yorkshire headquarters. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced compliance and health & safety professional to play a key role in maintaining a safe workplace, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting continuous improvement across the business.
The Role
Reporting into the Quality, HSE & Compliance function, you will be responsible for advising on and administering Health & Safety systems, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and acting as DSE's GDPR Officer.

- Managing Health & Safety systems and policies across the business
- Conducting risk assessments and driving risk reduction initiatives
- Leading accident, incident, and near-miss investigations and corrective actions
- Delivering Health & Safety inductions and employee training
- Acting as Fire Safety Responsible Person
- Managing compliance activities relating to GDPR, WEEE, Packaging Regulations, Battery Regulations, Waste Management, ESOS, and Energy Reporting
- Maintaining the company risk register and supporting corporate governance activities
- Reviewing contractor RAMS and safe working practices
- Conducting audits and monitoring compliance performance
- Producing management reports, compliance updates, and improvement recommendations
- Supporting certification, reporting, and continuous improvement projects
About You
We're looking for a detail-oriented professional who can confidently engage with employees at all levels and help foster a strong compliance and safety culture.
You will have:
- Previous experience in a Health & Safety and/or Compliance role within a manufacturing environment
- NEBOSH National General Certificate (essential)
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and management systems
- Knowledge of GDPR and corporate governance requirements
- Experience conducting risk assessments and incident investigations
- Understanding of environmental and regulatory reporting requirements
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
- A proactive approach to identifying improvements and driving compliance
