Travel: UK & International Travel Required

Employment Type: Permanent

Salary: £55,000-£65,000 + Benefits

D7 Recruitment are supporting a growing Health & Safety consultancy in the appointment of an experienced Health & Safety Consultant.

This is an opportunity to join a consultancy delivering practical, high-quality Health & Safety support to a varied portfolio of clients across the UK and internationally. The role is home based, but it is not a fully remote position. You will regularly work on client sites and must be comfortable travelling throughout the UK and overseas as projects require.

You will work closely with operational teams, managers and senior leaders, providing both hands-on Health & Safety support and wider strategic advice. Assignments may include audits, management-system development, risk assessments, compliance reviews, improvement programmes, project support and longer-term client partnerships.

The successful person will need to be credible, commercially aware and comfortable representing a consultancy in front of clients at all levels.

The Role

As a Health & Safety Consultant, you will manage and develop key client relationships from initial engagement through to delivery, ensuring advice and solutions are tailored to the needs of each organisation.

You will be expected to quickly understand a client's operation, identify key risks and priorities, and provide practical solutions that support both compliance and meaningful improvement.

The role will include:

  • Providing professional Health & Safety advice and consultancy support to clients.
  • Building strong relationships with operational teams, managers and senior stakeholders.
  • Understanding client requirements and developing practical, tailored Health & Safety solutions.
  • Developing, reviewing and implementing Health & Safety management systems.
  • Undertaking Health & Safety audits, inspections and compliance reviews.
  • Conducting and supporting specialist risk assessments.
  • Producing clear, professional reports and improvement recommendations.
  • Supporting clients with Health & Safety strategy, governance and performance improvement.
  • Advising on operational Health & Safety risks across complex working environments.
  • Supporting safety culture, behavioural improvement and workforce engagement initiatives.
  • Working with client teams to identify and address priority Health & Safety issues.
  • Supporting project-based Health & Safety requirements where necessary.
  • Delivering or supporting Health & Safety training where required.
  • Sharing knowledge and expertise with colleagues across the consultancy.
  • Identifying opportunities to provide additional support and services to existing clients.
  • Supporting the development of long-term client relationships.
  • Travelling to client sites throughout the UK and internationally.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What We Are Looking For

You will be an experienced Health & Safety professional who is comfortable working independently, managing your own workload and representing a consultancy in front of clients. You should be equally comfortable speaking with people on the shop floor as you are advising senior leaders.

This is not a purely administrative or compliance-based role. We are looking for someone who can understand operational challenges, influence people and provide practical solutions.

Essential Requirements

You must have:

  • Strong experience working within Health & Safety.
  • Experience within manufacturing, FMCG, engineering, food manufacturing, processing, construction or another complex operational environment.
  • Previous experience advising or supporting operational teams and management.
  • Experience conducting Health & Safety audits and inspections.
  • Experience developing or implementing Health & Safety management systems.
  • Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and best practice.
  • A NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent recognised Health & Safety qualification.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • The confidence to engage with employees, managers and senior decision-makers.
  • The ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong report-writing and organisational skills.
  • A practical and solutions-focused approach to Health & Safety.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • The flexibility and willingness to travel regularly to client sites.
  • The ability and willingness to travel internationally and work away from home when required.

  • Comfortable challenging where necessary.
  • Adaptable and able to work across different businesses and environments.

  • Calm and professional under pressure.
  • Commercially aware.
  • Proactive rather than purely reactive.
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a wider consultancy team.
  • Motivated by helping organisations improve rather than simply identifying problems.

Location & Travel

The role is primarily home based within the UK, with regular travel to client locations. Projects may be based throughout the UK, Ireland, Europe and further internationally depending on client requirements. Candidates must therefore be genuinely comfortable with regular travel, international assignments and spending time away from home when required. The exact level of travel will vary depending on current projects and client needs.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is an opportunity to join a consultancy where you can work with a diverse client base and have a genuine influence on how organisations manage Health & Safety. For the right person, it offers variety, autonomy and the opportunity to develop as a trusted Health & Safety adviser.
