Company Description

Armadillo Safety Solutions is a specialist health and safety consultancy based in Ashford, Kent, supporting small to medium enterprises across a range of sectors.

Role Description

The Health and Safety Consultant will work full-time in the South East. The role involves conducting safety audits and inspections, preparing risk and fire risk assessments, and designing or reviewing safety management systems, including policies, procedures, and responsibilities for client organizations. The consultant will provide competent health and safety advice, assist with claims defensibility, liaise with clients’ insurers or enforcing authorities, and support accident investigations and incident reporting.

Day-to-day responsibilities include delivering training sessions, supporting permit-to-work and contractor vetting processes, and producing clear reports and recommendations that help clients maintain compliance and improve safety performance. The consultant will also build strong relationships with stakeholders, manage multiple client projects, and ensure all work aligns with current legislation, guidance, and best practice.

  • Candidates should possess strong Health & Safety and Environment Health and Safety (EHS) expertise, with practical experience advising organizations on compliance and risk management.
  • Candidates should possess knowledge of Occupational Health principles and their application in workplace risk assessment, control measures, and employee wellbeing.
  • Candidates should possess relevant professional certifications such as NEBOSH (e.g., NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent) and a solid understanding of UK health and safety legislation and standards.
  • Candidates should possess training and facilitation skills, including the ability to design and deliver engaging health and safety training to diverse audiences.
  • Candidates should possess strong analytical, report-writing, and communication skills, with attention to detail and the ability to translate complex requirements into practical guidance.
  • Candidates should possess experience in safety auditing, accident investigation, and development of policies, procedures, and safety management systems; consultancy or client-facing experience is beneficial.
  • Candidates should possess good organizational and time-management skills, proficiency in common office software (e.g., MS Office), and a valid driving license for client site visits.
