Role Description

Your main responsibilities will be dominantly client facing and include:

  • Providing professional occupational health, safety and well-being advice and support
  • Engaging with managers and teams, to support Health and Safety related enquiries
  • Implementing health and safety policies, procedures and systems, ensuring compliance and alignment with key legislation and changes
  • Conducting audits, inspections and investigations. Seeking areas for improvement and development in health and safety performance
  • Promoting progressive positive health and safety culture throughout teams and project life cycles
  • Build collaborative relationships within the site, project, client and internals teams
  • Advice and support in application of design and construction related safety regulations (e.g. UK CDM / EU 92/57)
  • Support accident, incident and near–miss investigations
  • Support or lead health and safety training, workshops and coaching, as required
  • Support the team with presentations and proposals, relating to client engagements
  • Attend and contribute to applicable health and safety meetings, including steering groups to input and share best practice
  • Prepare timely and accurate health and safety performance reports, as required
  • Promote compliance with health and safety management system goals and KPIs
  • Develop, monitor and support the communication of health and safety policy, procedures and systems

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a similar role within construction, engineering, or ideally in the renewables/offshore or marine industry
  • Appropriate health and safety qualifications, with a minimum equivalent of a NEBOSH Certificate in Health & Safety
  • Technical knowledge across relevant health and safety legislation, compliance and regulations
  • Proven health and safety knowledge, supporting a project and team, with professional, timely and accurate advice
  • Knowledge and practical application of design and construction safety management (e.g. the UK CDM Regulations / EU 92/57)
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to champion health and safety discussion
  • Able to positively influence behaviour and engage with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Experience of investigation, with a focus on preventive action and broader lessons learnt
  • A proven strength of developing policies, procedures, and management systems
  • Professional curiosity and diligence, particularly in relation to auditing and inspection
  • Competent in preparing timely, accurate health and safety reports
  • Able to assess and explain complex information, to a variety of audiences

Additional Information

This role is crucial to the success of our project teams and would require regular travel to client sites/offices, within the UK and Europe (including some overnight visits). A full driving licence, with access to your own vehicle and a valid Passport are essential.
