Operating across Ireland, UK and Europe, Boven Safety Group is a leading Health & Safety Consultancy to our leading multinational Construction, Fit-Out, & Manufacturing based clients
Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of new and commencing projects, we are seeking an experienced Senior / Manager Health & Safety Consultant to join our team.
This is a senior position for an accomplished health and safety professional with significant experience working on large-scale construction projects, developing and implementing management systems, managing teams, and maintaining integrated ISO management systems. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality health, safety, environmental and quality consultancy to our clients. You will work closely with project teams and senior stakeholders, providing practical leadership and ensuring that management systems translate into effective performance on site. The role will be predominantly based in Northern Ireland, with infrequent travel required across Ireland and the wider UK.
Responsibilities
As a Senior / Manager Consultant, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing senior-level health and safety advice and leadership to clients undertaking large and complex construction projects.
- Supporting clients throughout the project lifecycle, from planning and mobilisation through construction, commissioning and project completion.
- Developing, implementing and continually improving health, safety, environmental and quality management systems.
- Managing and maintaining integrated management systems aligned with ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001.
- Leading and supporting internal and external ISO audits, including certification and surveillance audits.
- Undertaking site inspections, compliance audits, risk assessments and management-system reviews.
- Reviewing construction health and safety arrangements, contractor controls, RAMS and other project documentation.
- Managing, mentoring and developing health and safety professionals and other members of the consultancy team.
- Managing workloads, resources and priorities across multiple projects and client assignments.
- Leading incident investigations and supporting clients in identifying root causes and implementing effective corrective actions.
- Producing high-quality reports, policies, procedures, management plans and other technical documentation.
- Building strong relationships with clients, contractors, project teams and senior stakeholders.
- Identifying opportunities to improve client performance and develop long-term client relationships.
- Supporting the continued growth and development of the consultancy.

This role requires an experienced professional who can demonstrate both technical expertise and leadership capability.
Essential Experience
You will have demonstrable experience in:
- Health and safety management on large-scale and complex construction projects.
- Operating in a senior health and safety, HSEQ, SHEQ or consultancy position.
- Setting up & maintaining management systems from the ground up, including the development of policies, procedures, processes, assurance arrangements and supporting documentation.
- Implementing and managing ISO 45001, 14001 & 9001 Management Systems.
- Leading and managing a team, including allocating work, mentoring staff and maintaining high standards of delivery.
- Conducting audits, inspections, risk assessments and compliance reviews.
- Working effectively with contractors, project managers, directors and other senior stakeholders.
- Producing clear, concise and professional technical reports.
You should also have a strong working knowledge of relevant Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland and UK health and safety legislation and construction requirements. Experience of projects or clients in the Republic of Ireland would be advantageous.
Qualifications
Candidates should ideally hold:
- NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ Level 6 in Occupational Health & Safety, or equivalent professional qualification.
- Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH), or be actively working towards Chartered status.
- Relevant ISO auditor or lead auditor qualifications would be highly advantageous.
- A relevant degree or additional environmental, quality or construction qualification would also be beneficial.
- A full driving licence and the ability to travel to client and project sites.

The Person
We are looking for someone who is comfortable operating at both strategic and operational level.
You should be capable of sitting with a senior management team to develop an organisation's HSEQ strategy and management systems, while also being equally comfortable visiting a major construction project, engaging with the site team and identifying practical improvements.
You will be a confident communicator with the credibility to challenge constructively, influence senior stakeholders and provide pragmatic solutions rather than simply identifying problems.
We would expect proven experience of leading people, managing client relationships and taking ownership of multiple projects or workstreams.
