Role Overview
This is a key role supporting the day-to-day operations of our joinery workshop, offices and site projects, helping the company maintain compliance with relevant health and safety requirements.
The Health and Safety Co-ordinator will help maintain health and safety standards, support compliance activities and complete associated administrative tasks.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience in health and safety with a focus on compliance, and a keen attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out risk assessments and consider how risks could be reduced.
- Monitor and update risk assessments to ensure compliance with relevant requirements.
- Co-ordinate the preparation and review of safe operating procedures (SOPs), with support from the Health and Safety Manager and relevant stakeholders.
- Plan, co-ordinate and carry out company health and safety inductions for employees, ensuring attendance and acknowledgement records are maintained in the company system.
- Liaise with Team Leaders and Managers on health and safety concerns and support the implementation and close-out of corrective actions.
- Support the collection and analysis of workplace accident, incident and near-miss information, ensuring appropriate actions are taken.
- Assist with health and safety incident investigations, reports and recommendations for corrective action.
- Conduct and maintain regular safety audits and inspections to check that safety arrangements are effective.
- Manage head office PPE procurement and expenditure, ensuring the company purchasing policy is followed.
- Co-ordinate company asset management, including maintaining accurate asset registers, recording allocation and returns, monitoring inspection, servicing and certification dates, and supporting the secure disposal or replacement of assets.
- Promote a proactive health and safety culture across the business.
- Participate in health and safety committee meetings and accurately record and distribute minutes.
- Working with the Site H&S Officer to produce site files (online & offline).
- Superuser administrator for Work Wallet.
- Keep up to date with relevant legislation and HSE developments affecting the business.

Qualifications – Person specification
- We are looking for someone with a minimum of one - two years’ work experience in Health and Safety, ideally within the Manufacturing or Construction sector.
- Ideally NEBOSH qualified in Occupational Health & Safety (General Certificate).
- Must be self-motivated with a positive can-do attitude.
- Be able to work on their own initiative.
- Have excellent planning, time management and organisational skills, with the ability to multi-task.
- A collaborative team player with excellent communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Who we are
We are a family business that has been operating for 30 years. Our main business is shopfitting, and we manage customer projects and sites throughout the UK. This is supported by our workshop, where we design, manufacture and assemble furniture for our clients.
We have a subsidiary company that undertakes electrical installation work on our sites.
Contract length
Permanent, full-time, 37.5 hours per week.
Salary guide
£29,500 to £32,000, depending on experience.
Hours
Monday to Friday, office hours, with a 30-minute lunch break.
Place of work
This role is office based.
Unit 13 Highfields Farm Enterprise Centre, Huncote Road, Stoney Stanton, LE9 4DJ.
