Main purpose of role:
Reporting directly to the Group H&S manager, the H&S Coordinator will be the main point of contact for the business unit with the responsibility to provide support to the business unit Directors, senior & park management. Ensuring risk and safety standards are maintained as outlined in the Groups H&S policies and required by current UK legislation.
Note: The role although office based requires occasional travel for site visits and optional overnight stays. A full clean driving licence and the confidence to drive across the UK is required.
Main Duties:
- Acting as Champion of the Groups H&S policies & safety culture within the business unit.
- Managing own workload, keeping within budgets and expense requirements.
- Liaise with and support park and senior managers on all H&S queries and issues, with the aim to resolve locally.
- Liaise closely with Group H&S manager on any H&S issues / queries that cannot be resolved locally or need policy, legislative clarification.
- Ensure H&S processes are complied with by each park specifically to include risk and COSHH assessment and safe systems of work production and issue.
- Report directly to the Group H&S manager any RIDDOR incidents.
- Monitor, support and at times take the lead in accident / incident investigations.
- Collate monthly accident/ incident (AI) submissions and trend analysis.
- Training: Source, cost, arrange and occasionally present H&S Training to all teams. Providing systems training when required.
- Manage, Monitor, Review the business units E-learning system ensuring teams are up to date.
- Keep up to date on H&S legislation, Group H&S policies and own development training.
- Co-ordinate & chair senior and park managers H&S meetings (including minutes).
- Participate in and provide statistical reports for monthly H&S co-ordinator meetings with line manager.
- Manage, monitor, review the business unit’s safety management system (Riskproof). Providing status reports to Directors and senior management.
- Complete audits and compliance reviews as per the Groups H&S audit schedule. Negotiating with park managers to resolve open actions within time frames.
- Complete timely follow up reviews of any Group H&S managers audits, Director compliance reviews and any open actions from external supplier inspections or audits.
- Assisting on legal claims liaising with insurers and loss adjusters.
- Occasionally source suppliers, contractors and costings for specific H&S projects.
- Participate in annual H&S policy and process reviews.
- Occasionally working with other business units as and when required.

Requirements/Skills needed:
- Previous Health and Safety experience in an operational capacity.
- Ideally already hold a recognised H&S qualification: such as IOSH managing safely, Risk assessment etc or working towards.
- Can demonstrate previous compliance to and championing Health and safety in the workplace.
- IT competency ability to use Microsoft programs such as word, excel, PowerPoint.
- An understanding of statistical reporting.
- Confident and effective communication skills (in English).
- Ability to negotiate and influence at a high level with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent time management skills being a ‘solutions orientated’ individual who can act logically under pressure and prioritise workloads effectively.
- Risk-based reasonable decision-making skills with the ability to bring difficult situations to a positive conclusion.
- Willingness and confidence to work alone or as part of a team.
- Clean UK driving licence.
Desirable:
- Previous Health and Safety experience in a Holiday Home Park and or swimming pool operation.
- NEBOSH National General certificate in Occupational H&S.
- National Pool Plant Operators certificate.
- IOSH Accident and investigation.
- Train the Trainer qualification.
