Health and Safety Director

Salary up to £120,000 + benefits

London-based

Irwin and Colton have been engaged by one of the UK's leading property management organisations operating within the residential space to recruit a Health and Safety Director.

This is a Board-facing leadership role, responsible for setting strategy and providing governance and assurance across health, safety and technical compliance for a complex, multi-service national portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing the Group Health and Safety strategy, aligned to the wider business plan
  • Acting as principal adviser to the Board and Executive Leadership Team on compliance performance, operational risk and emerging regulatory requirements
  • Building and maintaining a robust governance and assurance framework, including auditing, monitoring, reporting and continuous improvement programmes
  • Overseeing serious incident investigations, ensuring learning and corrective actions are embedded across the organisation
  • Providing senior oversight of statutory compliance disciplines including building safety and fire safety, gas, electrical, water hygiene and asbestos management
  • Ensuring governance is in place for high-risk activities and principal contractor responsibilities
  • Leading, developing and strengthening the Health, Safety and Technical function, supporting capability building across the wider business
  • Supporting major bids, mobilisations and key customer relationships with clear, transparent assurance

Requirements

  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent with associated membership of a relevant professional body (CMIOSH, CEng, FIIRSM or equivalent)
  • Significant senior leadership experience within a complex, multi-site, multi-service operational environment within the residential sector
  • Strong working knowledge of UK statutory and regulatory compliance across housing, property, facilities management and construction
  • Proven ability to advise Boards and Exec teams, translating complex technical issues into clear, practical direction
  • Evidence of driving culture change and continuous improvement programme
