Health & Safety & Compliance Manager
Salary: £44,000 - £48,000 per annum
Contract: Permanent, Full Time (37.5 hours per week)
Location: Central London (based on-site)
We are seeking a skilled and collaborative Health & Safety & Compliance Manager to help shape and lead our approach to health and safety, compliance.
This is a newly refocused role that offers the opportunity to make a significant impact across a unique organisation that combines higher education, creativity, and live performance activity. Working closely with senior leaders, operational teams, and governors, you will play a key role in embedding best practice, improving oversight, and strengthening organisational assurance.
What you will be doing
You'll work across the organisation to provide specialist expertise, leadership, and coordination in health and safety, compliance, and governance activities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and embedding consistent health and safety processes across departments.
- Improving and standardising risk assessments and risk management practices.
- Managing health and safety audits, inspections, and compliance action plans.
- Maintaining and improving compliance monitoring and tracking systems.
- Monitoring estates-related statutory compliance requirements and supporting organisational assurance activities.
- Producing reports, dashboards, and management information for senior leaders and governors.
- Supporting governance processes, audits, and organisational risk management.
- Working collaboratively with teams to develop practical, proportionate, and effective ways of working.
- Promoting a positive culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and shared responsibility.

What we're looking for
We're interested in people who can bring specialist expertise alongside a collaborative and pragmatic approach. You may be working in education, the arts, facilities management, healthcare, local government, housing, the charity sector, or another complex operational environment.
You will bring:
- Significant experience in health and safety management.
- Experience working in complex multi-stakeholder environments such as arts, education, charity, public sector, healthcare, housing, leisure, or commercial organisations would be beneficial.
- NEBOSH qualification (or equivalent) essential.
- Knowledge of estates compliance around fire safety, water hygiene, statutory inspections, PUWER, and LOLER.
- IOSH qualification desirable if supported by substantial practical experience.
- Experience managing compliance, governance, or risk-related processes.
- Experience supporting or leading audits and compliance reviews.
- Knowledge of risk assessment methodologies and risk register management.
