About the Role – Health & Safety Manager
Location: Banbury, Oxfordshire
Reporting To: Head of Manufacturing
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Are you an experienced Health & Safety professional who can influence positive change and build a strong safety culture? We are looking for a proactive and hands-on Health & Safety Manager to join our manufacturing operation. Reporting to the Head of Manufacturing, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation, maintaining management systems, driving continuous improvement initiatives and promoting a positive health and safety culture across the business. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional who enjoys both strategic planning and operational involvement and can engage employees at all levels to create a safer working environment.

Responsibilities
- Ensure company compliance with all applicable Health & Safety legislation and regulations.
- Develop, implement, maintain and review Health & Safety policies, procedures and documentation.
- Monitor and report on Health & Safety performance through KPIs and management reports.
- Conduct audits, inspections and reviews to identify risks and opportunities for improvement.
- Manage external audits and support the maintenance of relevant accreditations and certifications.
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Ensure all incidents are reported in line with legal requirements.
- Deliver Health & Safety training, toolbox talks and awareness programmes.
- Promote employee engagement and encourage proactive participation in Health & Safety initiatives.
- Support the development of a positive behavioural safety culture throughout the organisation.
- Monitor utility usage and support site compliance initiatives, including Legionella management.
Skills & Experience
- Strong experience in a Health & Safety focused role.
- Experience within a manufacturing, engineering or similar operational environment.
- Proven success in developing and implementing initiatives that improve safety culture.
- Strong accident investigation, auditing and report writing skills.
- Ability to influence, engage and build relationships at all levels of the business.
- Knowledge of chemical safety and associated risks.
- Recognised Health & Safety qualification relevant to the role.
- Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems (desirable).
- IOSH Membership (desirable).
- Experience of behavioural safety programmes and continuous improvement initiatives (desirable).
