Job Title: Health & Safety Manager
We are currently seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join an established and growing main contractor, working across a range of construction projects throughout London and the surrounding areas. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive Health & Safety professional who is looking to take ownership of health and safety standards across multiple projects and work closely with project teams, site management, and senior leadership. You will play a key role in ensuring that projects are delivered safely, compliantly, and to the highest possible standards.
The Role
As Health & Safety Manager, you will provide expert advice, guidance, and support to project teams across the business. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing professional health and safety advice to site and project management teams.
- Carrying out regular site inspections, audits, and compliance reviews.
- Supporting the development, implementation, and review of Construction Phase Plans, RAMS, and other health & safety documentation.
- Monitoring compliance with UK health and safety legislation, company policies, and project requirements.
- Identifying hazards and implementing appropriate control measures.
- Investigating accidents, incidents, and near misses and providing recommendations for corrective action.
- Supporting site teams in promoting a positive health and safety culture.
- Delivering toolbox talks, briefings, and health & safety training where required.
- Working closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, Contracts Managers, and subcontractors.
- Monitoring subcontractor health and safety performance.
- Maintaining accurate records and producing health & safety reports for senior management.
- Keeping up to date with changes in legislation, guidance, and industry best practice.
- Supporting the continuous improvement of the company's health and safety systems and processes.

About You
We are looking for a Health & Safety professional with strong experience within the construction industry, ideally gained with a main contractor. You will have:

- Proven experience in a construction Health & Safety role.
- A strong understanding of UK construction health & safety legislation.
- Experience working across live construction sites.
- Excellent knowledge of risk assessments, method statements, RAMS, and construction compliance.
- The confidence to challenge unsafe practices and influence site teams positively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work independently while also being an effective team player.
- A practical, solutions-focused approach to health and safety.
- Strong organizational and report-writing skills.
Qualifications
Ideally, you will hold:
- NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent.
- IOSH membership.
- CSCS relevant to the role.
- Additional construction health & safety qualifications would be advantageous.
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate/Diploma or equivalent would be desirable.
- SMSTS knowledge/experience would be advantageous.
