Health & Safety Manager – Property
Salary: £60,000–£70,000 + Benefits
Hybrid working: 2 days per week in the office
We're partnering with a globally recognised retail and hospitality brand to recruit an experienced Health & Safety Manager – Property to support the safe delivery of its property and store development programme across the UK.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Health & Safety Manager – Property with a strong background in property, retail construction, store development, fit-out, and fire safety. You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring new store openings, refurbishments, and construction activities are delivered safely, compliantly, and in line with UK legislation and industry best practice.
Please note: Experience in Health & Safety within retail or hospitality is essential, alongside experience supporting property, store development, retail construction, fit-out, or refurbishment projects. Applications without this background are unlikely to be considered.
The Role
Reporting to the senior leadership team, you'll lead Health & Safety across the property function, working closely with property, construction, and project teams to ensure all development activities are delivered safely and in compliance with statutory requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading Health & Safety across the property, construction, and store development portfolio.
- Acting as the subject matter expert for Health & Safety and Fire Safety across property projects.
- Ensuring compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation, the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order, and CDM Regulations.
- Providing expert guidance to property, project, and construction teams throughout the lifecycle of new store openings and refurbishment projects.
- Conducting site inspections, audits, fire safety reviews, and risk assessments across property and construction projects.
- Reviewing RAMS, construction methodologies, and contractor performance.
- Supporting contractor selection and ensuring robust Health & Safety and Fire Safety standards are maintained throughout all property projects.
- Investigating incidents, identifying root causes, and implementing preventative actions.
- Developing and maintaining Health & Safety and Fire Safety policies, procedures, and training.
- Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors, and external partners to promote a positive safety culture across the property function.

About You
We're looking for an experienced Health & Safety Manager – Property who can demonstrate:
- Proven experience in a Health & Safety role within the retail or hospitality sector.
- Significant experience supporting property, store development, retail construction, fit-out, or refurbishment projects.
- Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation, CDM Regulations, and Fire Safety legislation.
- Experience working closely with property teams, project managers, contractors, and consultants.
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent Level 6 Health & Safety qualification).
- A recognised Fire Safety qualification, such as the NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety or an equivalent Level 3 Fire Safety qualification.
- IOSH membership (GradIOSH or CMIOSH) is desirable.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
- The ability to build strong relationships and drive a proactive Health & Safety and Fire Safety culture.
