Package Salary: up to £60k (Dependent on experience)
Support: A structured, extended handover period with the retiring H&S Manager to ensure you hit the ground running.
Travel: Office based (North Birmingham) with regular site visits required to audit and maintain standards across various projects.
We are partnering with a highly respected, specialist M&E contractor to recruit a Health and Safety Manager.
The successful candidate will receive a smooth transition and comprehensive handover before the current H&S Manager retires at the end of the year. We need a qualified professional with a true passion for Health & Safety and the drive to ensure the highest standards are maintained throughout all aspects of the business and across all active sites.
This role is central to preventing workplace incidents, protecting employees and visitors, and ensuring organizational compliance with health and safety regulations, while fostering a proactive and positive safety culture throughout the company.

What are we ideally after?
- Qualifications: Typically a Level 6 qualification such as a diploma or degree in occupational health and safety, environmental health, or a related field.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of health and safety laws, regulations, and standards relevant to the industry.
- Capabilities: Ability to conduct risk assessments, analyze incidents, and develop mitigation strategies.
- Leadership: Experience in managing H&S teams, coordinating audits, and embedding a safety culture throughout the organization.
- Communication: Capable of advising leadership, training staff, and promoting safety awareness across all levels of the organization.
The Role
- Develop, update, and enforce comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures to comply with local, national, and international regulations.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and inspections to identify hazards in workplaces, projects, and operations, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Lead investigations into accidents, near misses, or safety incidents, determine root causes, and report findings (including RIDDOR compliance) to senior management.
- Design and deliver health and safety training programs for employees, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure all personnel follow safety procedures.
- Monitor compliance, conduct audits and inspections, and maintain accurate documentation of H&S activities.
- Develop and review emergency response plans for scenarios such as fires, medical emergencies, or hazardous spills.
- Advise senior management and boards on H&S matters, and support strategic planning for H&S initiatives and continuous improvement programs.
- Ensure sufficient resources and personnel are available to meet H&S requirements, including first aiders, fire wardens, and local H&S officers.
