Company Description

SPV Special Projects Limited is a UK market leader in roofing and cladding refurbishment, known for technical expertise, in-depth sector knowledge, and consistently high standards of work. The business holds accreditations from Competent Roofer, Constructionline Gold, CHAS, British Safety Council, and RoSPA, and maintains ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 certifications, reflecting its commitment to quality, safety, and environmental excellence. Membership with the NFRC and the Institute of Roofing further reinforces the company’s focus on professionalism and craftsmanship.

Role Description

The Health and Safety Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Walsall, responsible for overseeing health, safety, and environmental standards across roofing and cladding refurbishment projects. Day-to-day activities include:

  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring site-specific health and safety policies and procedures
  • Conducting risk assessments and method statement reviews
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards
  • Performing regular site inspections, audits, and incident investigations
  • Producing clear reports and action plans
  • Supporting continuous improvement in safety performance

The Health and Safety Manager will:

  • Design and deliver safety training and toolbox talks
  • Promote a positive safety culture
  • Work closely with project managers, site supervisors, and clients to manage hazards and reduce risk

Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Maintaining certification requirements
  • Liaising with external bodies and auditors
  • Advising senior leadership on health, safety, and environmental matters

Qualifications

  • Strong Health & Safety and Occupational Health knowledge relevant to construction and refurbishment environments
  • Skills in Environment Health and Safety (EHS), including environmental risk management and compliance with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards
  • Expertise in Safety Training, including developing and delivering training programs, toolbox talks, and inductions
  • Recognized health and safety qualifications such as NEBOSH (e.g., NEBOSH General Certificate or Construction Certificate)
  • Experience in construction, roofing, or cladding projects, with a proven ability to conduct audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations
  • Strong communication, influencing, and reporting skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with site teams and management
  • Familiarity with UK health and safety legislation and industry best practices; membership of IOSH or similar
