Role Description

The Health and Safety Manager role is a full-time, on-site position based in Salisbury. The person in this role will develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies, procedures, and risk assessments across construction and civil engineering projects. Daily responsibilities include conducting site inspections, audits, and toolbox talks, monitoring compliance with legal and company standards, and identifying and mitigating hazards. The Health and Safety Manager will deliver safety training, support incident and accident investigations, and prepare reports and recommendations for continuous improvement. This role also involves working closely with project managers, site supervisors, and external stakeholders to promote a strong safety culture and ensure that health, safety, and environmental requirements are integrated into project planning and delivery.

  • Candidates should possess strong Health & Safety and Occupational Health knowledge, with experience applying these in construction or civil engineering environments.
  • Candidates should possess Environment Health and Safety (EHS) expertise, including risk assessment, incident management, and compliance with UK regulations.
  • Candidates should possess Safety Training skills, including the ability to design and deliver engaging training sessions and toolbox talks for diverse site teams.
  • Candidates should possess NEBOSH certification (e.g., NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate) or an equivalent recognized health and safety qualification.
  • Candidates should possess excellent communication, influencing, and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Candidates should possess strong analytical and reporting abilities, including experience with incident investigation, trend analysis, and corrective action planning.
  • Candidates should possess solid knowledge of UK health and safety legislation (e.g., CDM Regulations) and best practices relevant to civil engineering and construction.
  • Experience in a Health and Safety Manager or advisor role, a valid UK driving license, and relevant professional membership (e.g., IOSH or IIRSM) would be beneficial.
