Salary: £35000 - £45000 annually (DOE)
Location: Cardiff & Pontypridd (with occasional travel to sites)
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday
Holiday: 33 days including Bank Holidays

About the Role
We're looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Health & Safety Officer to join our Group Health & Safety Team.
Reporting to the Head of Health & Safety, you'll provide practical advice and support across multiple business units, helping managers and operational teams maintain high standards of Health & Safety while driving continual improvement throughout the Group.
This role goes beyond compliance. It's about influencing people, improving standards and embedding a positive safety culture where Health & Safety is recognised as an enabler of operational excellence.
You'll work closely with managers, employees and contractors, undertaking regular visits to offices, customer properties and operational sites across South Wales. Through coaching, guidance and constructive challenge, you'll help ensure our people have the knowledge, confidence and support to work safely every day.

Key Responsibilities
As our Health & Safety Officer, you will:
- Support the implementation and continual improvement of the Group Health & Safety Management System.
- Carry out planned and reactive inspections, compliance audits and workplace assessments.
- Assist managers with the preparation and review of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying immediate, underlying and root causes.
- Produce clear investigation reports and monitor corrective actions through to completion.
- Deliver Health & Safety inductions, toolbox talks and awareness sessions.
- Provide practical Health & Safety advice and guidance to managers and operational teams.
- Review and update Health & Safety policies, procedures and safe systems of work.
- Support compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation and industry best practice.
- Maintain accurate Health & Safety records, reports and documentation.
- Assist with internal and external audits, including ISO management systems.
- Promote positive safety behaviours while professionally challenging unsafe practices.
- Build strong working relationships across all levels of the organisation.
What We're Looking For
Essential Skills & Requirements
- NEBOSH General Certificate.
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) or currently working towards it.
- Proven experience in a Health & Safety role.
- Experience conducting inspections, audits and workplace assessments.
- Experience investigating accidents, incidents and near misses.
- Experience preparing and reviewing Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
- Good working knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to influence, coach and challenge professionally at all levels.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience in construction, renewable energy, utilities, engineering or a similar operational environment.
- Experience supporting ISO 45001 management systems.
- Internal Auditor qualification.
- Environmental qualification.
- Fire Safety qualification.
- IOSH membership (TechIOSH, GradIOSH or Chartered).
