The Role
Are you passionate about improving outcomes for children, young people and families? We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Health Care Support Worker to join our Children and Families Health Visiting Team.
Working closely with Health Visitors and other professionals, you will support the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care within homes, and community settings. The role includes supporting health promotion activities, developmental screening programmes, parenting support and providing practical assistance to families.
We are looking for someone who has excellent communication and interpersonal skills and who enjoys working with children. The post holder requires to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. It is important that this person is caring, compassionate and committed to improving health outcomes, has a SVQ Level 3 in Healthcare (or equivalent experience) and possesses good IT skills and a full driving licence.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
- Location: Based in Dumbarton Health Centre
- Duration: Permanent Contract
- Working Pattern: Part-time position (28.8 hours per week)
Key Responsibilities
The Healthcare Assistant will be responsible for delivering safe, efficient and person-centred care to clients and families, as delegated and directed by the Health Visiting team. The post holder will support the Health Visiting team in the delivery of care to clients and families.
The post holder will promote a culture of engagement with clients, families and carers, which includes as core principles and values an approach which is caring, compassionate, courteous, empathetic and respectful.

The post holder will promote the principles of self-care to clients, families and carers and empower them to access and use health resources in their community.
The Post Holder Will
- Carry out clinical duties as delegated by the Health Visiting Team
- Assist clients and families in relevant settings to address health promotion activities that can positively improve health and wellbeing
- Assist with the delivery of a variety of clinics e.g. Immunisation, community drop-in
- Assist with the delivery of planned screening programmes e.g. height & weight
- Participate in the delivery of group work as appropriate to local need e.g. Parenting, Post Natal depression and Breastfeeding groups
- Accurately report back to Health Visitor following home visits or other client-related work
- Participate in systems of practice support and personal development planning in line with the Knowledge and Skills Framework
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act and Freedom of Information Act in discussion with the Health Visitor supervising the case
- Work within national, organisational and local policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure maintenance of safe, person-centred and effective working practices for children, young people and families
Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required to Do the Job
Essential
- SVQ Level 3 in Healthcare or equivalent experience
- Ability to work with people as part of a team
- Ability to work without direct supervision
- Good communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to work with vulnerable children, young people and families
- Computer skills
- Full Driving License
Desirable
- Experience of working with children
