The Role
As an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, the post holder will work in partnership with colleagues, patients, carers and partner agencies, demonstrating compassionate and caring behaviours to support the delivery of safe, effective, person-centred inpatient mental health care. The role involves contributing to the assessment, care, treatment and recovery of adults and older adults receiving inpatient mental health services, working within a strengths-based and recovery-focused framework that actively promotes individual participation and wellbeing. The post holder will undertake allocated duties and responsibilities as part of the nursing team, supporting patients with a wide range of mental health needs while maintaining dignity, respect and therapeutic engagement.

- Rowanbank Clinic
- 36 Hours - Rotational Long day shift pattern 0730-2015 on days 2015-0730 on nights.
Key Responsibilities
The post holder will function as a Healthcare Support Worker within a multidisciplinary team, delivering high-quality care and support to a designated group of patients. They will contribute to nursing assessments, implement agreed care plans and support risk assessment and risk management processes. Working closely with patients, carers and healthcare professionals, they will provide therapeutic, recovery-focused care that promotes mental and physical wellbeing while supporting relapse prevention. The role includes recognising and responding to safeguarding concerns, vulnerability, self-harm risks and other complex needs. The post holder will maintain accurate records, uphold patient confidentiality, support health promotion activities, contribute to audit and quality improvement initiatives, participate in supervision and professional development activities, and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, procedures and the Healthcare Support Worker Code of Conduct. They will also help maintain a safe clinical environment, support learners and students, communicate effectively with internal and external partners, and contribute to the delivery of safe, efficient and person-centred inpatient mental health services.

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required to Do the Job
- Knowledge of person-centred, recovery-focused mental health care.
- Understanding of the Healthcare Support Worker Code of Conduct.
- Awareness of current mental health legislation and relevant healthcare policy.
- Understanding of risk assessment, risk management and safeguarding principles.
- Knowledge of equality, diversity, dignity and respect within healthcare settings.
- Understanding of infection prevention and control procedures.
- Awareness of health and safety requirements within a clinical environment.
- Knowledge of confidentiality, information governance and record keeping standards.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic IT skills, including use of Microsoft Office applications and electronic patient record systems.
- Understanding of health promotion and wellbeing approaches.
- Ability to recognise and escalate changes in a patient's condition.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and lifelong learning.
- Willingness to undertake and maintain all mandatory and statutory training relevant to the role.
- Participation in Nurse Line Management Supervision, Clinical Supervision and TURAS/eKSF appraisal processes.
- Ability to safely use clinical equipment and follow local procedures relating to emergency situations and patient safety.
