An exciting opportunity has arisen to join NHS Fife's Diabetes & Weight Management Team as a Band 4 Healthcare Support Worker.
This new post has been created to support the implementation and ongoing delivery of NHS Fife's Obesity Medicine Pathway, helping patients access evidence-based obesity treatment as part of a specialist multidisciplinary service. You will play an important role in supporting patients throughout their treatment journey and contributing to the safe and effective implementation of the pathway across Fife.
About The Role
Working closely with our specialist Pharmacist Prescriber, Dietitians and wider multidisciplinary team, you will support patients throughout their treatment journey within the Obesity Medicine Pathway.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Providing education and practical support to patients commencing obesity medicines.
- Recording and reporting patient outcomes and pathway data
- Coordinating patient questionnaires, appointments and correspondence
- Supporting delivery of information sessions and group programmes
- Communicating with patients, GPs and other healthcare professionals
- Contributing to service evaluation and ongoing pathway development
This is a unique opportunity to work within an innovative new service and gain experience supporting a specialist obesity medicine pathway.

- Has experience working in a health, care or support setting
- Has excellent communication and organisational skills
- Enjoys supporting people to improve their health and wellbeing
- Has good IT and data management skills
- Works effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Is enthusiastic, motivated and patient-focused

Experience of weight management, diabetes or long-term condition management would be advantageous but is not essential. Full induction, training and ongoing support will be provided to help the successful candidate develop the knowledge and skills required for this role.
About the Team
The Diabetes & Weight Management Team is part of NHS Fife's wider Nutrition & Dietetics Service and works alongside colleagues across primary and secondary care to support people living with diabetes, obesity and other long-term conditions. The successful candidate will join a supportive multidisciplinary team comprising Administration Staff, Dietitians, Psychologists, Pharmacists and Healthcare Support Workers, and will play a key role in the implementation and ongoing delivery of NHS Fife's Obesity Medicine Pathway.
This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in a new and developing area of care and to make a real difference to the health and wellbeing of people across Fife.
