Healthcare Support Worker
Band 3 - 30 hours
We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated nurses who are able to work as part of a team and are also able to manage the running of outpatient clinics with supervision.
The above post has become vacant in the Main Outpatients Department at Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr.
The post is part time.
The unit is a very busy outpatient facility that offers services to both scheduled and unscheduled care.
The successful candidates will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to evidence their experience against the band 3 OPD job description. The willingness and ability to work in a constantly changing environment is also an essential requirement.

You should provide evidence of equivalent experience and evidence work-based competency demonstrating theoretical knowledge and the ability to undertake clinical care duties relevant for the role which is gained through experience and work-based training/short courses.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide a quality pre-assessment service for our patients.
This will involve providing clinical support to clinicians and Nurses throughout the department.
There is expectation that the successful candidate will hold a NVQ qualification. Some of their role requirements will involve assisting with the preparation and restocking of examination/clinic rooms, undertake clinical duties such as baseline observations, performing ECG’s, undertaking spirometry testing and will also be able to demonstrate excellent phlebotomy skills.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NVQ 3/QCF Level 3 or equivalent experience
- Good communication skills - verbal and written, with the ability to convey information clearly and sensitively
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in an Outpatient setting
- Ability to work flexibly and support a range of shift patterns
