The Role
We are looking for a compassionate and motivated Health Care Support Worker (Band 3) to join our Inpatient Mental Health Nursing team. As an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, you will support the delivery of safe, effective, person centred care to adults and older adults receiving inpatient mental health services. Working alongside nurses, patients, carers and partner agencies, you will contribute to recovery focused care plans, promote mental and physical wellbeing, and support individuals throughout their inpatient journey. The role requires you to work both independently and as part of a team, ensuring care is delivered in line with professional standards, legislation, policies and the Health Care Support Worker Code of Conduct.
This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a or a NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS).
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
- Permanent Role - Part Time Hours
- Based at Stobhill Hospital
- 22.38 Hours per week with 24 Hour shift pattern rotation over 7 Days
Key Responsibilities
As a Health Care Support Worker, you will:
- Provide high quality care and support to a designated group of patients within an inpatient mental health setting.
- Contribute to nursing assessments, implement agreed care plans, support risk assessment and risk management processes, and deliver therapeutic, recovery focused care that promotes mental and physical wellbeing.
- Build positive relationships with patients, carers and colleagues, ensuring care is delivered with dignity, respect and compassion.
- Maintain accurate records, support health promotion activities, contribute to a safe clinical environment, adhere to infection prevention and control standards, participate in supervision and professional development activities, and work collaboratively with a range of internal and external agencies to support patient care and safe discharge planning.

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required to do the Job:
- Educated to, or actively working towards, SVQ Level 3 / SCQF Level 6 or equivalent experience.
- Working knowledge of mental health nursing care.
- Working knowledge of mental health issues.
- Experience using digital technology, information systems, email and basic software applications.
- Evidence of effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Evidence of applying the Health Care Support Worker Standards and Code of Conduct in practice.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to follow instructions and work with limited direct supervision.
Desirable
- Completion of a health, mental health or social care programme, or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of health and social care issues that impact mental health and wellbeing.
- Experience of working within an inpatient healthcare environment.
