Job Description & Summary
About the role:
PwC is aiming to recruit a market-leading Financial Recovery, Improvement, and Transformation Director that focuses on the NHS. The candidate should have relevant experience selling to and working with clients within the NHS and related bodies. PwC’s focus is to help clients with complex business transformation. There is a recognition that most, if not all, of these transformations are underpinned by complex technology change. The Financial Recovery, Improvement, and Transformation Director will be active in the market and instrumental in architecting and winning financial recovery, improvement, and turnaround work with a continued hand in delivery.
PwC currently provides financial recovery leading into medium to longer-term transformation services to a variety of NHS clients. Demand for these services is growing as the NHS ICSs, ICBs, and Trusts need to become more efficient to reduce cost but also become more productive to better deliver the operational targets. The candidate should have senior relationships within, and experience of operating across NHS ICSs, ICBs, and Trusts and a track record of driving a pipeline in this area. This should include opening up opportunities and seeing these through the sales cycle and to successful delivery. The candidate will be able to shape and sell programmes that include all types of financial recovery and improvement programmes, and the ability to create opportunities and on-sell further work such as digital transformation programmes and the implementation of complex IT systems and cloud-based solutions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
