Health Content Editor

Salary: From £36,400 (Prorated) + Fantastic Benefits
Location status: Hybrid
Location: Angel Court or Bupa Place
Role Type: Secondment – 12 Months
Shift pattern: Part Time – 26.25 Hours (3.5 days a week)

As a Health Content Editor, you are responsible for reviewing and editing our library of medical topics and lifestyle articles, managing relationships with clinicians, and supporting stakeholders with their requests for health content.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be comfortable critically appraising evidence, data, and research to make content decisions.
  • Write and review different types and formats of health content.
  • Build relationships to influence stakeholders and focus on the needs of the user.
  • Contribute to and use our in-house health content style and production guides.
  • Work collaboratively with health content colleagues and other digital and clinical teams.
  • Create briefs for multimedia assets.
  • Contribute to content and process improvement conversations within the team.
  • Work closely with our bank of freelance editors.
  • Liaise with expert clinicians to obtain feedback and approval on content.
  • Help with coordinating our review planning process.

Critical appraisal skills. A deep understanding of hierarchy of evidence and critical appraisal skills.

Education. A relevant degree or qualification in a communication and/or life sciences area.

Medical language. Broad knowledge of medical language and terminology, including an understanding of the importance of health literacy and communicating medical statistics, messages, facts, and advice to consumers.

Stakeholder relationship management. You have a good working relationship with stakeholders, and you work to understand their needs. You feel comfortable asking them questions and involving them in your process, you understand the value this brings to the end product.

User-centred health content creation. You create health content to meet user needs and make complex language and processes easy to understand. You can present the right information in the right format for what users need. You have robust experience of writing and editing. You write in plain English, in a way that users understand, making information accessible to all. You understand accessibility requirements and can create health content that works with common assistive technologies. You use data, research, and evidence to review and evaluate health content to make improvements. You consistently and effectively apply content standards and style guidelines to your work. You work to continuously improve our content and understand why content lifecycle management is important. You can work autonomously.
