An opportunity to use your health journalism experience to help a health think tank whose guiding principle is that prevention is better than cure - while expanding your own health knowledge and contacts.
What difference will you make?
As Health Journalism Adviser you will be particularly well placed to influence our development as a health think tank - hopefully helping ensure our research findings reach a wider audience.
We seek to influence both policy and practice, for example with our evidence cited by Parliamentary Committees, through research partnerships with universities, and invitations to speak at conferences and events.

We'd like to hear from you if you have
- At least 3 years’ experience of health journalism in the UK
- A background or proven interest in health, medicine, or science
- A portfolio of health-related articles
- Health-related contacts
- An interest in our guiding principle that prevention is better than cure

What will you be doing?
As Health Journalism Adviser, you’ll advise
- Which of our areas of research are likely to be of interest to the media and, if so, which aspects.
- Which media outlets and health journalists are likely to be most interested.
- How to communicate our research findings in media-friendly ways
- Areas we might wish to consider researching, as these are of interest to the media.

We have a track record of providing fresh thinking on health issues - from Young People’s Mental Health to how best to encourage Physical Activity, from Covid to Obesity.
We have also acted as a catalyst to research with university partners, on topics from Health Behaviour Change to Student Mental Health.
We have had some success in influencing opinion formers, for instance through evidence to parliamentary committees, and are now looking for ways to share our findings more widely – which is where your experience and contacts as a health journalist can make a significant contribution.
