Team Overview:

The Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) department is dedicated to ensuring the wellbeing of all employees, contractors, and visitors across every project and site. The team develops, implements, and monitors safety policies, risk assessments, and compliance with legal and industry standards. By fostering a strong safety culture and promoting environmental responsibility, the HSE team plays a critical role in protecting people, reducing incidents, and supporting sustainable business practices throughout Alternative Heat.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Health and Safety Officer to provide general assistance and support to the office, site, and fabrication teams, ensuring safe practices and environmental compliance are maintained in a safe and healthy environment. This will include liaising with staff, contractors, clients, and partners to ensure the correct policies are followed, including attendance at site H&S walks and daily briefings.

  • Job Title: Health, Safety and Environmental Officer (Manufacturing & Assembly)
  • Location: Head Office
  • Hours: Monday-Thursday 8am-5pm and Friday 8am-3pm
  • Salary: Competitive depending on experience
  • Responsible to: HSE (M&A) Manager - Business Unit 06

The role involves providing expert HSE advice and support across the company to managers, employees, subcontractors, site workers, and the public, while promoting a strong culture of engagement, safety, and continual improvement. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining safe systems of work and RAMS
  • Conducting HSE inspections and maintaining accurate records
  • Investigating incidents and implementing corrective actions
  • Delivering toolbox talks and inductions
  • Planning and reviewing emergency preparedness
  • Ensuring compliance with current HSE legislation, regulatory requirements, and the company’s Integrated Management Systems
  • Maintaining professional and effective communication with colleagues, clients, and customers

The role also requires working collaboratively across all levels of the organisation, maintaining high standards within their department, attending relevant meetings, and carrying out any additional duties as required by management.
