About You

You are a proactive and influential leader with a passion for creating a safe, compliant, and efficient working environment. You have experience managing health & safety & soft facilities service providers within a fast-paced shared user warehouse & logistics operation.

You are confident engaging with colleagues at all levels, from warehouse teams through to senior leadership, and can drive a positive behavioural safety culture whilst ensuring legal and company compliance requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities

Health & Safety

  • Lead the site's Health & Safety risk management strategy and continuous improvement plans.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant UK legislation, HSE guidance, and company standards.
  • Develop, review, and maintain risk assessments, safe systems of work, and site procedures.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses and dangerous occurrences, identifying corrective and preventive actions.
  • Lead internal audits and support external audits by customers, insurers and regulatory bodies.
  • Monitor health and safety KPIs and provide regular performance reports to site leadership.
  • Promote a behavioural-based safety culture through coaching, communication and colleague engagement.
  • Manage emergency response arrangements, fire safety systems and evacuation procedures.

Soft Facilities Management

  • Oversee the maintenance and operation of all site soft facilities and services.
  • Manage contracts relating to security, cleaning, waste management, pest control, utilities and grounds maintenance.
  • Ensure statutory inspections and planned preventative maintenance programmes are completed on time.
  • Manage contractor control processes, permits to work and site inductions.

Leadership & Compliance

  • Work closely with operational teams to ensure safety is integrated into daily activities.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to managers and supervisors on health and safety responsibilities.
  • Lead compliance actions relating to fire safety, environmental requirements and business continuity.
  • Support colleague wellbeing initiatives and engagement activities.

Your Skills & Experience

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum requirement).
  • Previous experience in a Health & Safety management role within logistics, warehousing, manufacturing or a similar environment.
  • Strong understanding of UK H&S legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to influence behavioural change and drive a positive safety culture.
