Salary: £50,000 per annum (DOE) | Company Benefits

Location: Walsall or Cambridge

Contract: Full Time | Hybrid | 37 hours per week

About Us

South Staffordshire Water operates across two regions as Cambridge Water and South Staffs Water, and is a privately-owned regulated water only company.

South Staffs Water supplies a population of nearly 1.3 million. The area of supply stretches from the edge of Ashbourne in the North, to Halesowen in the South, and from Burton-on-Trent in the East, to Kinver in the West.

The Role

South Staffs Water is looking for a practical, people-focused Health & Safety Business Partner to help shape and strengthen safety across our operational teams.

Based in Walsall or Cambridge, you will work closely with Operational Delivery teams to turn Group H&S standards into practical, accessible ways of working. This role combines technical expertise with strong relationship-building, supporting teams to manage risk effectively and embed a positive safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate Group Health & Safety standards into clear, practical procedures, guidance, and templates
  • Partner with managers and supervisors to embed Critical Risks into effective risk assessments
  • Improve the quality of risk assessments, ensuring they reflect real working practices
  • Drive improvements in incident reporting, turning insights into preventative action
  • Identify health hazards and support implementation of health surveillance programmes
  • Support audits and inspections, including contractor and supplier activities
  • Promote near-miss and hazard reporting, using EcoOnline for data and trend analysis
  • Deliver against KPIs for H&S procedures and risk assessment support
  • Act as a trusted H&S advisor to teams across Water Production and Distribution

Essential

What You’ll Need:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate
  • Strong understanding of operational risk, safety systems, and culture change
  • Experience influencing teams and improving safe working practices
  • A practical, collaborative approach with the ability to build credibility at all levels

Desirable

  • Membership of IOSH (or similar professional body)
  • Experience with ISO 45001
  • Background in water, utilities, or comparable operational environments
