Are you an experienced Health & Safety professional looking for a part-time role where you can have a real influence on how safety and compliance work day to day?

Fresh Start Waste Services is looking for a Health, Safety & Compliance Advisor to join the team and provide practical, hands-on support to managers across the business. This isn't a role that's simply about policies and paperwork. You will be working closely with operational teams, helping managers understand their responsibilities, identifying areas for improvement and making sure good Health & Safety practice becomes part of everyday working life.

Role overview

Working closely with the MRF Operations & Compliance Manager, you'll provide advice, guidance and coordination across Health, Safety and operational compliance.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing practical Health & Safety and compliance advice to managers
  • Supporting safe systems of work and promoting a positive safety culture
  • Carrying out planned Health & Safety inspections and internal compliance audits
  • Coordinating workplace inspections across company sites
  • Reviewing risk assessments, COSHH assessments and Safe Systems of Work
  • Coordinating statutory compliance requirements, including fire safety and electrical inspections
  • Supporting investigations into accidents, near misses and environmental incidents
  • Identifying root causes and helping ensure corrective actions are completed
  • Coordinating Health & Safety training and delivering Toolbox Talks where appropriate
  • Supporting employee inductions and coaching managers and supervisors
  • Helping maintain Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems, including ISO 45001 and ISO 14001
  • Monitoring relevant legislative changes and supporting regulatory inspections
  • Maintaining compliance records and producing clear reports, statistics and KPI information
  • Identifying opportunities to improve safety, compliance and working practices across the business

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent, operational H&S experience, UK legislation knowledge and a full UK driving licence are all listed as essential requirements in the role profile.

Experience within waste, recycling, manufacturing or logistics would be particularly useful, as would experience in a multi-site environment, supporting ISO management systems or holding an Internal Auditor qualification.

The opportunity

This is a varied role where you will have the chance to work closely with the people responsible for operations rather than sitting at a distance from the day-to-day running of the business.
