Job Type: Contract (3-4 months)

My client is looking for a Health & Safety Consultant to join the organisation on a fixed term contract basis and play a pivotal role in enhancing Health & Safety compliance across the organisation. This hands-on role involves conducting audits, identifying compliance gaps, implementing solutions, and driving continuous improvement to maintain regulatory compliance and inspection readiness.
Day-to-day Of The Role
- Take ownership of achieving compliance with UK HSE regulations within the contract period.
- Lead activities to bring the organisation to inspection-ready status, ensuring all compliance gaps are resolved.
- Conduct detailed audits across various facilities including laboratories, production areas, and offices.
- Review and ensure the adequacy of Health & Safety policies, SOPs, risk assessments, and COSHH documentation.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to address and implement solutions to identified gaps in line with HSE requirements.
- Update, standardise, and embed compliant processes and documentation.
- Deliver or support Health & Safety Awareness Training.
- Ensure compliance with PPE, signage, fire safety, and first aid requirements.
- Manage COSHH and ensure GMP-compliant handling of chemicals and materials.
- Strengthen waste management compliance and improve housekeeping standards.
- Review incident reporting and investigation processes, implementing robust root cause analysis and corrective actions.

Required Skills & Qualifications
- Relevant qualification in Health & Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent).
- Proven experience in Health & Safety, Compliance, or Audit roles, preferably in regulated environments such as pharmaceuticals or laboratories.
- Strong knowledge of COSHH and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience delivering rapid compliance improvements in GMP facilities.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Highly organised and results-driven, with the ability to work independently and drive outcomes quickly.

Key Deliverables (Within 3-4 Months)
- Completion of full Health & Safety and compliance audits.
- Implementation of required improvements to achieve HSE compliance.
- Closure of critical and high-risk compliance gaps.
- Updated and fully compliant documentation (SOPs, Risk Assessments, COSHH, etc).
- Demonstrable inspection readiness.
- Enable departmental Health & Safety representatives to effectively maintain ongoing compliance and safety standards.
- Embedded systems/processes to sustain compliance post-contract.
