Health and Safety Coordinator

As a Health and Safety Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in supporting the Health & Safety team, who provide advice and guidance to managers, employees, volunteers and third parties across our two zoo sites, as well as national and international off-site activities. You’ll help ZSL maintain a safe place of work through effective collaboration with colleagues and service partners, ensuring that health and safety practices are consistently applied in line with ZSL policies and procedures.

This is a varied and hands-on role, primarily focused on supporting our UK operations. You’ll coordinate a range of Health & Safety activities, including managing third-party relationships, administering internal communication systems, organising Occupational Health services and vaccination clinics, coordinating H&S training, and carrying out workplace inspections. You’ll also support a range of wider Health & Safety initiatives, helping to drive efficiency, promote best practice and ensure effective processes across the department and the wider organisation.

This is a full-time, on-site position, working 37.5 hours per week at London Zoo. The role will also require occasional travel to Whipsnade Zoo.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote a Positive Safety Culture: Support colleagues across ZSL to meet their Health & Safety responsibilities in line with policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate H&S Training: Coordinate essential training, inductions, Health Surveillance and vaccination clinics.
  • Support Workplace Safety: Assist with contractor management, permits, site inductions, food safety checks and workplace inspections.
  • Manage H&S Systems & Data: Maintain H&S systems and information, including the inbox, EHS software, incident data, reporting and intranet content.
  • Coordinate H&S Activities: Provide administrative support to the H&S team, working across ZSL to improve communication, reporting and emergency preparedness.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
