Health, Safety & Environmental Coordinator

📍 Bedfordshire – multi-site 💷 £30,000 – £35,000 depending on experience 🕒 37 hours per week 🏠 Hybrid working 🏖️ 32 days’ holiday 💼 Enhanced company pension

Are you building your career in Health, Safety and Environment and looking for a position that will give you broader, hands-on experience?

I am recruiting for an established and continually expanding manufacturing company in Bedfordshire. Working closely with an experienced HSE Manager, you will help strengthen safety standards across several operational sites while developing your knowledge of environmental management, auditing and compliance.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with practical HSE experience gained within manufacturing, warehousing, logistics, distribution or another fast-paced operational environment. You do not need to be the finished article, the business is looking for someone with the right foundations, attitude and ambition to develop.

  • Building strong relationships with operational teams and encouraging positive, practical conversations around safety
  • Supporting incident and near-miss investigations, helping to identify root causes and follow through on corrective actions
  • Assisting with the preparation and review of risk assessments, safe working procedures and HSE documentation
  • Contributing to internal audits and the ongoing development of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems
  • Coordinating contractor approvals, site inductions and checks to ensure work is completed safely
  • Delivering HSE inductions and supporting the development of safety awareness across the workforce
  • Getting involved in environmental improvement and sustainability projects
  • Monitoring standards across the sites and helping managers address potential risks before they become issues
  • Supporting the ongoing review of HSE policies, processes and compliance requirements

What we are looking for:

  • Some hands-on health and safety experience, ideally within manufacturing, warehousing, logistics or distribution
  • NEBOSH qualified, currently working towards NEBOSH, or willing to complete the qualification with company support
  • A practical understanding of risk assessments, incident reporting and workplace safety
  • Confidence communicating with and influencing people at all levels
  • A proactive, organised and solutions-focused approach
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001 or ISO 14001 would be beneficial but is not essential
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, as this is a multi-site position
