Help Drive a Safer, More Sustainable Future

At Stagecoach, we're part of the fabric of everyday life across the UK. For more than 40 years, we've connected people with jobs, education, healthcare and the communities that matter most to them. We're now looking for a proactive and passionate Health, Safety & Environmental Officer to support our Merseyside operation. This is an opportunity to play a key role in promoting a positive safety culture, driving compliance, and supporting our environmental commitments across multiple depots.

Reporting to the Engineering Director, you'll work closely with operational and engineering teams to ensure health, safety and environmental standards are maintained, improved and embedded throughout the business.

The Opportunity

As our Health, Safety & Environmental Officer, you'll be the local subject matter expert for health, safety and environmental matters within the Merseyside operation. This is a highly visible role where you'll build strong working relationships across depots, support managers in meeting compliance requirements, investigate incidents, deliver training, and help drive continuous improvement in safety and environmental performance. You'll be someone who enjoys being out in the operation, engaging with colleagues, solving problems and making a genuine difference to the wellbeing of our people, customers and communities.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Support the continuous improvement of health, safety and environmental performance across Merseyside depots.
  • Monitor safety and environmental action plans arising from audits, inspections, legislative changes and Group policy updates.
  • Provide guidance and support to depot management teams on health, safety and environmental compliance.
  • Assist managers in maintaining effective risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Support compliance with Stagecoach Safety Management System (SMS) and Environmental Management System (EMS) requirements.
  • Help depots achieve and maintain ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Carry out audits, inspections and compliance reviews.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents, identifying root causes and sharing lessons learned.
  • Produce and distribute safety alerts and guidance materials.
  • Deliver in-house health and safety training in line with operational requirements.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Attend Health & Safety Committee and Green Team meetings.
  • Support safety improvement initiatives with the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority.
  • Represent Stagecoach at local and regional safety forums.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
