Principal Accountabilities
Reporting to the Engineering Director, this role is responsible for being the subject matter expert on continuously improving health, safety and environment within the Merseyside Opco.
- This role is responsible for monitoring depot safety and environmental actions following audits, legislation changes and any Group policy changes.
- Ensures the depot management have a clear understanding and consistency of policies and procedures set by the Group H, S and Environmental Teams.
- Assist the Depot Management to ensure all Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of work are regularly monitored and updated in line with Group Policies.
- Assist Depot Management In line with the objective of achieving and maintaining ISO45001 and ISO14001.
- Provide safety support with Liverpool City Region Authority and their safety improvement programme.
- Attend LCR Forums to share and learn experiences from other Franchise Operators.
- With a methodical approach, you will have the ability to prioritise important over urgent.
- Responsible for driving forward safety and environment performance and engaging directly with local managers and colleagues on topics of safe operations and compliance with our Safety Management System (SMS) requirements and Environmental Management System (EMS).
- Attend depot specific H&S Committee Meetings and Green Team Meetings.
- Carry out depot Accident Investigations and develop Safety Alerts to share learnings within the OpCo/Business.
- Delivering In House Safety Training to Depot employees in line with the OpCos Training Matrix.
- Monitor Depot KPI's and identify any areas for improvement.

Requirements, Qualifications, Experience & Competencies
Essential:
- Be a team player with the ability to bring ideas and fresh perspectives
- Driving licence and willingness to travel
- Experience of a fast-moving, customer focused industry, preferably within transport.
- NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum)
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant UK safety legislations
- Good standards of IT skills including MS office word, excel etc.
- Experience of auditing
- Planning, organising, and problem solving.
- A clear, positive, enthusiastic, and effective communicator (verbal and written)
- A good influencer with attention to detail
- Well organised individual, who is flexible, plans ahead and manages time effectively.
- Proven ability to deliver quality work.
- Strong understanding of waste and duty of care.
- Permits and consent
- Approachable, pleasant, and confident, with a calm and methodical approach
