Ready to take full ownership of health, safety, and environmental excellence as we scale at pace?

Protein Works is hiring a Health, Safety & Environmental Manager to manage our site here in Speke, Liverpool. We've sold over 500 million shakes and built one of the fastest-growing food and beverage brands in the UK, and none of that happens without a site that's genuinely safe, genuinely compliant and getting better every single week. In this role you'll take real ownership of what health, safety and environmental compliance means here, building a culture our people can feel every day, not one that just exists on paper.

We're growing fast, and growth brings real risk with it. This role is what makes sure that as we scale and move at pace, we've got a site and environment that's genuinely putting health and safety first. You'll need sharp judgement to know what to tackle first and the drive to see it through, backed by a business that's serious about getting this right.

Here's the scale of what you'd be taking on: PW Campus is a 100,000 square foot site, home to production, fulfilment, research and our offices all under one roof, running 24 hours a day, five days a week, with around 170 employees. It's a big operation, and it's only getting bigger. This isn't a role where you write the report and hand it over. You'll spot the gap, judge what needs sorting first, and get stuck in to make it happen, working directly alongside the wider operations team.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • Take full end-to-end ownership of health, safety and environmental compliance across the site, acting as the driving force behind resolving issues.
  • Lead and carry out risk assessments, method statements and COSHH assessments, then translate them into controls that genuinely work on the floor.
  • Own the health & safety action log end to end, using sharp judgement to prioritise what matters most and driving every item through to genuine closure, from accidents and near-misses to the fixes nobody's got to yet.
  • Design and deliver hands-on training, from inductions to toolbox talks, building a safety culture through coaching, not just paperwork.
  • Manage environmental compliance, including permits, waste and emissions, making sure what happens on the ground matches what's on paper.
  • Act as the main point of contact for the HSE, the Environment Agency and external auditors, representing a site you've helped build.

Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience in an operations, warehouse or food production site is essential, so you understand the environment you'll be working in from day one.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or Diploma, or working towards) and IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent.
