Health, Safety & Environmental Officer

Location: Dungannon, Northern Ireland

Are you passionate about creating safe, sustainable working environments? Do you have experience in Health, Safety and Environmental practices within a manufacturing setting? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for a proactive and motivated Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Officer to join our team in Dungannon.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in supporting our site-wide Health, Safety and Environmental strategy, helping to drive a proactive safety culture while supporting sustainability initiatives and environmental compliance.

About The Role

Reporting to the HSE Manager, you will work closely with the wider HSE team and operational departments to identify, assess and reduce risks across the site while minimising environmental impacts. You will help shape and deliver initiatives that support our commitment to creating a safe workplace and achieving our sustainability goals.

This role offers a great opportunity for an ambitious HSE professional looking to further develop their career within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

As Health, Safety & Environmental Officer, you will:

  • Support the HSE team in delivering site Health, Safety and Environmental objectives.
  • Provide guidance and advice to managers and colleagues on HSE matters.
  • Promote and positively influence a proactive health, safety and environmental culture across the business.
  • Assist with incident investigations, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions implemented.
  • Train and support managers in conducting risk assessments and incident investigations.
  • Develop and deliver health, safety and environmental awareness campaigns and initiatives.
  • Carry out inspections, audits, surveys and workplace assessments.
  • Support the development and implementation of safe systems of work.
  • Assist with maintaining compliance with relevant HSE legislation and company policies.
  • Produce reports, statistics and KPI information to monitor site performance.
  • Manage site waste processes and ensure all legal obligations are met.
  • Lead and support waste reduction and utility optimisation projects.
  • Liaise professionally with external stakeholders and regulatory bodies when required.
  • Support the HSE Manager and deputise as required.
  • Undertake general administrative duties relating to the HSE function.

About You

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about Health, Safety and Environmental best practice.
  • Proactive, hands-on and solutions focused.
  • A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail.

  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year's experience in a Health & Safety role within a manufacturing environment.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent).
  • Good knowledge of Northern Ireland, UK and EU Health & Safety legislation.
  • Experience producing reports and analysing data.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good numerical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to handle confidential information professionally.

Desirable Requirements

  • NEBOSH Environmental Certificate (or equivalent).
  • Working knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
  • Experience within food manufacturing or other FMCG environments.
