Health & Safety Officer
Our client, one of Scotland’s largest local authorities, is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Officer to join its team on a contract basis.
Role Overview
Reporting directly to the Programme Manager, you will support the delivery of a broad health and safety strategy, providing a comprehensive advisory and support service across all work programmes and matters relating to the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the CDM Adviser, supporting the Client, Principal Designer and Principal Contractor in fulfilling their duties across building, civil engineering and property maintenance projects.
- Review construction phase plans, pre-construction information, F10 notifications, designers’ risk assessments and health and safety files.
- Undertake competency assessments and pre-qualification reviews of designers, contractors and principal contractors.
- Conduct site inspections and CDM compliance audits, producing clear, structured reports with prioritised actions and monitoring them through to completion.
- Attend site progress and pre-start meetings, providing proportionate, practical advice to project managers, design teams and contractors.
- Provide advice on health and safety risk management within live operational environments.

- Proven health and safety experience within construction environments.
- Experience of demolition and new-build projects.
- A strong working knowledge of the Principal Designer / Health & Safety role.
Position Details
- This hybrid position is available on a full-time basis.
- The initial contract term will be a minimum of six months.
