Health & Safety Manager
We are currently partnering with a Yorkshire based charity that is dedicated to making a positive difference to the people and communities it supports, who are looking to appoint a Health & Safety Manager on a permanent basis.
Our client is a prominent charity dedicated to driving positive social change and creating lasting impact.
This is a full time position with a salary of circa £48,000 (subject to experience) and the start date is subject to notice.
Duties
- Leading Health, Safety and Environmental matters across the organisation, ensuring strong governance and adherence to relevant legislation and guidance
- Developing, reviewing and continuously improving Health & Safety systems, policies and procedures, ensuring they remain practical, proportionate and aligned with the organisation’s needs
- Advising and constructively challenging managers and senior leaders, translating legislation and best practice into clear, practical actions that reduce risk and improve Health & Safety standards
- Overseeing audits, inspections, investigations, risk assessments, training and assurance reporting, monitoring performance and ensuring actions are followed through to completion
- Building strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation, acting as a trusted point of contact for Health & Safety advice, support and guidance
- Championing a proactive culture of Health, Safety and wellbeing, strengthening accountability, awareness and ownership across the organisation

Experience required
- Significant experience working within a Health & Safety role, ideally across a complex or multi-site organisation
- Proven experience developing, reviewing and implementing Health & Safety policies, procedures, frameworks, systems and processes
- Strong experience carrying out audits, investigations, risk assessments, inspections and assurance activities, with the confidence to identify issues and drive improvements
- Experience providing clear, practical Health & Safety advice to senior stakeholders and interpreting relevant legislation and guidance
- A genuine people person who builds strong relationships and works extremely well with stakeholders at all levels
- Someone who isn’t afraid of challenges and is confident having difficult conversations, challenging existing practices and finding practical solutions
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage people, build trust and bring stakeholders with you
- Knowledge of environmental, sustainability and wider Health & Safety requirements
- A proactive, approachable and solutions-focused individual who can balance providing support with having the confidence to challenge when necessary

Qualifications required
- Must have a minimum of a NEBOSH Diploma or the equivalent Health & Safety qualification
- Internal Auditor qualification or demonstrable experience of leading audit programmes (desirable)
- Membership of IOSH, IIRSM or another relevant professional body (desirable)
Working hours
- 37 hours per week
- Monday – Friday
- Hybrid working – two to three days in the office/on site per week
