Health & Safety Manager

Location: Malton

Working Hours: Monday to Friday 08:00 – 17:00

Salary: circa £50,000

Are you a Health & Safety professional who likes getting things done?

We’re looking for a Health & Safety Manager to join Pro-Pak Foods and play a key role in making sure our people go home safe every day.

This isn’t a role for someone who wants to sit behind a desk, write policies and wait for other people to make things happen.

We need a do-er. Someone who can walk the floor, spot what needs improving, have the right conversations, agree what needs to happen — and then make sure it actually gets done.

You’ll work closely with people across Operations, Engineering, Quality, HR and the wider business, building strong relationships and making Health & Safety something that is understood, owned and acted upon at every level.

What will you be doing?

  • Leading and developing the Health & Safety agenda across the business.
  • Identifying risks, finding practical solutions and driving improvements through to completion.
  • Completing audits, inspections, investigations and risk assessments — and making sure the resulting actions are followed through.
  • Working with managers and colleagues to ensure H&S requirements are clearly understood and delivered within agreed timescales.
  • Lead/support Investigating incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing meaningful corrective actions.
  • Supporting and developing a positive, proactive Health & Safety culture.
  • Providing clear, practical advice that people can actually use.
  • Keeping the business up to date with relevant legislation, standards and best practice.
  • Challenging where necessary — but always with the aim of finding a better and safer way of working.
  • Tracking actions and holding people accountable for getting things done.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What are we looking for?

We’re looking for a credible, hands-on H&S professional who can operate confidently at all levels of an organisation.

You’ll be someone who:

  • Is confident working with people on the shop floor as well as senior stakeholders.
  • Communicates clearly and builds relationships easily.
  • Can influence without relying solely on authority.
  • Is organised, pragmatic and commercially aware.
  • Doesn’t just identify problems — you find solutions and make them happen.
  • Is comfortable challenging unsafe behaviours and practices when required.
  • Takes ownership, follows through and delivers against deadlines.
  • Can turn legislation and technical H&S requirements into straightforward, practical actions.
  • Most importantly, you’ll be a person who gets things done.
  • If you see something that needs fixing, you won’t simply write it into an audit report. You’ll work with the people involved, agree the solution, set the deadline and make sure it happens.
