Health & Safety Manager | Bolton / Manchester | UK-Wide Site Travel
£40,000–£45,000 per year, depending on experience
Full-Time | Permanent
Are you a hands-on Health & Safety Manager comfortable on live project sites and reviewing RAMS? Can you give clear, practical safety advice to project teams and subcontractors?
The role
Cosaf Environments Ltd is looking for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to take ownership of health, safety, quality and compliance across our office, workshop and UK project sites.
This is not a desk-based role. You will be visible across live projects, working closely with teams to ensure safe systems of work are understood, followed and maintained. Hybrid working where suitable and regular UK-wide travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead health and safety standards across the office and project sites.
- Support project managers, supervisors, engineers and subcontractors with day-to-day safety matters.
- Prepare and review RAMS, construction phase plans and project safety documentation.
- Review subcontractor RAMS before work begins.
- Carry out site inspections, audits and compliance checks.
- Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings and practical site guidance.
- Support CDM compliance, site welfare and safe project set-up.
- Investigate incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions.
- Maintain training records, audits, corrective actions and compliance documentation.
- Support accreditations including SafeContractor, ISO 45001 or similar systems.

The person
To succeed as our Health & Safety Manager, you will need:
- SMSTS and NEBOSH General Certificate.
- UK driving licence.
- Experience in construction, mechanical services, M&E, HVAC, industrial services or building services.
- Knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and CDM Regulations.
- Practical experience with RAMS and site-based risk management.
- Confidence to challenge unsafe practices while building positive working relationships.
