Role Description
The Health & Safety Manager/Supervisor is a full-time, on-site position for a food manufacturing company based in Selby. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining health and safety policies, procedures, and risk assessments across the workplace.
Daily activities include:
- Conducting site inspections
- Monitoring compliance with relevant legislation and company standards
- Leading incident investigations
- Preparing accurate reports and recommendations
The role also involves:
- Delivering safety training and briefings
- Coordinating with managers and employees on corrective actions
- Promoting a positive safety culture
The Health & Safety Manager/Supervisor will collaborate closely with operational teams and leadership to ensure safe working practices and continuous improvement in health and safety performance.

Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in health and safety management or supervision within an industrial, engineering, or similar environment.
- LOLER & COSHH understanding
- Health & Safety experience with lifts, scissor lifts & fork lifts
- Strong knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation, regulations, and best practices, with the ability to interpret and apply them on-site.
- Proficiency in conducting risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations, and in preparing clear documentation and reports.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to deliver training, engage colleagues at all levels, and influence safe behaviors.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, including prioritizing tasks, managing multiple stakeholders, and driving corrective actions.
- Recognized health and safety qualification (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
- Comfort working on-site in Selby, with a proactive approach to maintaining a visible presence and fostering a safety-focused workplace culture.
- Experience in the recruitment or engineering sector is an advantage but not essential.

Salary
Up to £45,000
