A look into the role…
Our Health & Safety Advisor will provide a comprehensive, professional, and customer-focused advisory service on health, safety, and wellbeing across Henderson Group, helping to ensure compliance with legislation and best practice. Reporting to the Group Health & Safety Manager, you will work across our estate and build strong relationships with operational teams, managers, employee representatives, and external authorities.
Working as Health & Safety Advisor, you will:
- Carry out audits and inspections across the estate, identify existing or potential hazards, and develop practical corrective and preventative action plans.
- Monitor agreed actions and provide clear reports to the Group Health & Safety Manager.
- Log and investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, identify root causes, secure supporting evidence, and ensure corrective actions are completed promptly.
- Support statutory reporting, including RIDDOR requirements, and work with colleagues on claims and investigations.
- Produce statistical analysis and reports on accident and incident trends for management, safety committees, and relevant authorities.
- Support health surveillance, DSE assessments, and wider wellbeing initiatives across the Group.
- Develop and review risk assessments, safe systems of work, COSHH assessments, policies, and emergency response plans.
- Provide trusted advice, guidance, and training, helping colleagues build a positive and proactive safety culture.

Skills for Success
Joining us as Health & Safety Advisor, the minimum criteria you’ll need are:
- NEBOSH General Certificate or an equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience in a dedicated health and safety advisory role within warehousing, distribution, food processing, print manufacturing, or a multi-site organisation.
- Up-to-date knowledge of current UK health and safety legislation and best practice.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- A full driving licence, access to transport, and the flexibility to travel regularly to sites.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, influencing, and organizational skills, with a practical and commercially aware approach.
Desirable criteria:
- NEBOSH Diploma
- Relevant third-level qualification
- Membership of a professional body
- A training qualification.

This is a full-time position working 36.5 hours per week. Working hours will be 8:45am–4:45pm Monday to Thursday and 8:45am–3:45pm Friday. Hybrid and flexible working arrangements are available.
