Health & Safety Officer
Salary: £32,000 - £38,000 DOE + Excellent Benefits

This is an exciting opportunity to join a successful and expanding multi-site organisation in a newly created Health & Safety Officer role. As the business continues to grow, health and safety is becoming increasingly important, creating the need for a dedicated specialist to lead and develop best practice across multiple locations.
This is a highly visible role where you'll have genuine influence, working closely with senior leadership to drive a positive safety culture, improve compliance, and ensure colleagues go home safe every day. You'll have the autonomy to make a real impact while receiving support from operational teams, local safety representatives, and external health and safety specialists.
The Role
As Health & Safety Officer, you will take ownership of day-to-day health and safety activities across multiple operational sites and customer-facing branches. You'll be responsible for turning risk assessments and audit findings into practical actions that improve safety standards throughout the organisation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as the primary point of contact for all health and safety matters across the business.
- Building strong relationships with site-based Health & Safety representatives and supporting them to implement improvements locally.
- Coordinating external health and safety audits and risk assessments.
- Managing and maintaining action plans, risk registers, and compliance documentation.
- Reviewing and updating health and safety policies, procedures, and risk assessments.
- Conducting regular site inspections, audits, and compliance checks.
- Investigating accidents, incidents, and near misses, including RIDDOR reporting where required.
- Delivering health and safety inductions, toolbox talks, and refresher training.
- Providing guidance on workplace risks including machinery, manual handling, COSHH, dust exposure, and customer-facing environments.
- Monitoring legislative changes and ensuring continued compliance with UK health and safety regulations.
- Producing reports and recommendations for senior management.
- Championing a positive and proactive safety culture across the organisation.

What We're Looking For
We're seeking a proactive and practical health and safety professional who enjoys working independently and building strong relationships across a business.
Essential:
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent).
- Experience in a Health & Safety role, ideally within manufacturing, production, engineering, retail, distribution, or another multi-site environment.
- Good understanding of UK health and safety legislation, including RIDDOR, COSHH, and Manual Handling Regulations.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to influence and support non-specialists at all levels.
- Well-organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.
