As STEF Langdons continues to grow, we are looking for a proactive and knowledgeable Health & Safety Officer to join our Health & Safety Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in promoting a positive safety culture, ensuring compliance with legislation, and supporting colleagues across our nationwide operation.

Location: Bridgwater - Head Office

Salary: Competitive (depending on experience)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours

As Health & Safety Officer, you will support the development, implementation and continuous improvement of our Health & Safety policies, procedures and guidance. Working closely with the Health & Safety Manager, you will provide advice to colleagues across the business, assist with audits and compliance activities, analyse safety data, and help ensure our high standards are maintained across all sites.

This role offers variety, responsibility and the opportunity to make a real impact within a fast-paced logistics business.

Key Responsibilities

Health & Safety Compliance

  • Support the development, implementation and review of the Company's Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • Respond to health and safety enquiries, ensuring advice is accurate, timely and appropriately documented.
  • Provide guidance to colleagues on company standards, policies and legal requirements.
  • Identify training needs arising from audits, inspections and policy reviews.

Auditing & Continuous Improvement

  • Assist with internal and external Health & Safety audits across the business.
  • Monitor and follow up outstanding audit actions to ensure timely completion.
  • Support the development and maintenance of Health & Safety procedures and associated documentation.
  • Promote continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance compliance and working practices.

Reporting & Data Analysis

  • Analyse Health & Safety data and produce regular reports identifying trends and recommending appropriate actions.
  • Maintain accurate records in accordance with company procedures and data protection requirements.
  • Support investigations and reporting where required.

Collaboration & Training

  • Attend meetings and training events to maintain professional knowledge and support business objectives.
  • Travel to depots nationwide when required to assist with Health & Safety training and support.
  • Build positive working relationships with colleagues across all departments to promote a strong safety culture.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for an organised and confident Health & Safety professional who enjoys working with people, has excellent attention to detail and is passionate about driving high standards across the business.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • NEBOSH National General Certificate (Level 3) or equivalent.
  • Good knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation and best practice.
  • Experience carrying out or supporting Health & Safety audits.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience producing reports and interpreting data.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to influence others and confidently challenge unsafe practices in a constructive manner.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
  • Experience delivering excellent customer service and building positive working relationships.

Desirable

  • Experience within a temperature-controlled transport or warehousing environment.
  • Experience delivering Health & Safety training.
