The business has undertaken a significant £20 million investment in a secondary manufacturing facility in Bridgend, alongside the modernisation of its existing factory in Llantrisant. Sigma 3 currently sells kitchens through six of its own retail showrooms across South Wales and in Esher, Surrey, while also supplying its national brand, Masterclass Kitchens, to over 160 independent retailers across the UK. In addition, the company partners with both boutique and national housebuilders throughout Wales and the South-West. Every kitchen is designed and manufactured in Wales, ensuring that the company’s continued national success supports the local economy.
Role Purpose
The Health, Safety & Quality Manager will lead and continuously improve Health, Safety and Quality standards across Sigma 3, helping us provide a safe working environment and consistently deliver the high standards expected by our customers.
This is a practical, hands-on role providing professional guidance to managers and employees while maintaining the policies, procedures and management systems that underpin our approach to Health, Safety and Quality.
Working collaboratively across the business, the HSQ Manager will champion a positive culture where safety and quality are everyone's responsibility, providing appropriate oversight, assurance and constructive challenge.
The Role
Health & Safety
- Provide Health & Safety advice and guidance across the business.
- Keep up to date with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements and advise on any actions required.
- Maintain and continually improve Health & Safety policies, procedures and management systems.
- Ensure risk assessments, COSHH assessments, safe working procedures and other H&S documentation are maintained and regularly reviewed.
- Support managers and supervisors in implementing safe systems of work.
- Lead accident, incident and near-miss investigations, identifying root causes and ensuring corrective and preventative actions are completed.
- Monitor H&S performance, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Undertake workplace inspections and audits and ensure actions are followed through.
- Provide H&S information and updates to the Senior Management Team.
- Deliver H&S inductions, toolbox talks, briefings and training.

Quality
- Maintain and continually improve the Company's Quality Management System.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Quality standards and requirements.
- Lead internal Quality audits and coordinate external and third-party audits.
- Monitor Quality performance, identifying trends and improvement opportunities.
- Support the investigation of non-conformances and recurring quality issues.
- Facilitate root cause analysis and ensure corrective and preventative actions are implemented and reviewed.
- Maintain and control Quality procedures, Standard Operating Procedures and associated documentation.
- Work with Manufacturing teams to improve processes and prevent quality issues.
- Promote employee understanding and ownership of product quality.
Management Systems, Compliance & Auditing
- Maintain effective HSQ management systems and document control.
- Coordinate the internal HSQ audit programme and relevant external certification audits.
- Monitor actions arising from audits, inspections, incidents and reviews through to completion.
- Produce HSQ reports and management information to support decision-making.
- Continually review systems and processes to identify opportunities for improvement.
Training & Culture
- Work with managers and the People Team to identify and address HSQ training requirements.
- Develop and deliver inductions, briefings, toolbox talks and other HSQ training.
- Maintain appropriate training and competence records.
- Coach and support managers and supervisors in fulfilling their HSQ responsibilities.
- Promote employee involvement in HSQ improvement.
- Build strong working relationships across Manufacturing, Retail and Head Office.
- Champion a proactive culture focused on preventing accidents, reducing risk, improving quality and learning from incidents and non-conformances.

Skills and Experience
Essential:
- NEBOSH qualification.
- Health & Safety experience within manufacturing, production, engineering or a similar operational environment.
- Strong practical understanding of UK Health & Safety requirements.
- Experience of accident and incident investigation, root cause analysis and corrective action.
- Experience of auditing and monitoring Health & Safety or Quality systems.
- Experience of risk assessments, COSHH assessments and safe systems of work.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with confidence working at all levels.
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
Desirable:
- Experience of Quality Management Systems within manufacturing.
- Knowledge and practical experience of ISO 9001 and ISO 45001.
- Experience supporting or managing external certification audits.
- Experience of continuous improvement and structured root cause analysis.
- Knowledge or experience of Construction Design and Management requirements.
The Package
- Salary of £40,000-50,000 per year, with the opportunity to improve on this with knowledge, experience and excellent performance.
