EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

We’re excited to offer a new opportunity for a Health and Safety Standards & Assurance Manager. In this role, you will drive improvements in health & safety compliance across Water Treatment, ensuring we maintain a safety-first culture, and consistently meet and exceed expectations.

As the technical expert in relation to regulatory compliance knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and risk management you will lead on the implementation of H&S best practice by supporting and providing specialist advice, guidance, and assurance on health, safety, and wellbeing (HSW) to managers and their teams to ensure compliance with our standards, procedures, and processes.

Additionally, you will be accountable for the H&S improvement program within your allocated area of Water Treatment, in close collaboration with the regional Standards and Assurance Managers.

Your key accountabilities will be:

  • Act as the subject matter expert for health and safety, providing guidance and challenge on matters concerning H&S compliance, legislation and standards.
  • Lead the HSW compliance improvement programme across Water Treatment to deliver improved safety compliance (HSE).
  • Ensure that procedures, process, and systems of work are documented to a high quality and compliant with HSE and company standards and legislation, with technical input from SMEs and Team Managers.
  • Report on HSW performance within regional performance meetings. Escalate significant areas of underperformance to the Regional Business Lead
  • Complete independent assurance checks against specific regulatory and HSW standards to ensure long term compliance.
  • Continual engagement with performance against target, celebrating success and identifying recovery plans to address performance issues.
  • Provide expert advice on risk assessments, incident investigations, and root cause analysis
  • Engage stakeholders to maintain high standards and influence best practice

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

In order to succeed in this role, it is expected that you will have:

  • A strong passion for health and safety backed by comprehensive experience working in a utility/high risk industry, managing health and safety to a high level in the workplace.
  • NEBOSH Certification (or equivalent)/Membership of IOSH is highly desirable. Training can be provided where experience demonstrates sufficient capacity to undertake the role successfully.
  • Strong understanding of UK health and safety legislation and regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven ability to influence and engage at all levels, from frontline teams to senior leadership.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Travelling to operational sites will be essential for this role and therefore a full UK driving license will be required.
