Site H&S Supervisor

We are currently looking for a Site H&S Supervisor to join the EGL1 Project team, as part of the Thermal Power & HVDC division of Metlen, based in Torness, Scotland, UK.

Your responsibilities

  • Implementing HSE requirements and ensuring compliance with project, client, and statutory obligations.
  • Reviewing construction activities, work methodologies, and risk assessments to identify and address foreseeable health and safety risks.
  • Preparing, maintaining, and updating site H&S documentation and records.
  • Supporting the implementation of emergency response plans, traffic management arrangements, and fire safety procedures.
  • Leading HSE initiatives across the site and monitoring subcontractor compliance with HSE requirements.
  • Coordinating site inspections, audits, and corrective actions to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Investigating incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, producing detailed reports and recommendations.
  • Promoting a positive safety culture and ensuring adherence to company policies, procedures, and industry best practices.
  • Delivering HSE inductions, toolbox talks, and awareness initiatives as required.

Required skills

  • Minimum 3–5 years of construction HSE experience, preferably within large-scale infrastructure, power generation, energy, or EPC projects.
  • Experience working on major construction or industrial sites.
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate, NEBOSH General Certificate, or equivalent HSE qualification.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. IOSH) would be considered an advantage.
  • Degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related discipline is desirable.
  • Good understanding of UK HSE legislation, CDM Regulations 2015, and construction safety practices.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to influence and drive a positive safety culture across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal.
