Job Title: Health, Safety and Wellbeing Assurance Advisor
Location: Durrington, West Sussex (hybrid)
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: 37 hours per week
Salary: £40-45,000, depending on skills and experience

About the Role
To provide health and safety competent assurance and advice to all parts of the business including Operations, Facilities, Engineering and Construction, ensuring Southern Water personnel and contractors operate safely, comply with legal requirements and follow the health and safety policies and procedures set by Southern Water.
What You Will Be Responsible For
- Account for undertaking Assurance to an agreed programme to advise the Executive Management Team and Board on the adequacy and effectiveness of business controls to ensure the HSSW of SW staff and stakeholders.
- Understand HSSW processes, evaluate the key business objectives, associated risks and mitigating controls.
- Form an independent and objective opinion on how well the designed controls are operating.
- Produce clear and concise Assurance audit reports that provide value-add recommendations to the business.
- Maintain effective communication with HSSW Manager, Senior Managers, Contractors, suppliers and other third parties.
- Deliver and monitor performance against the Safety, Health, and Wellbeing strategy and objectives, system, standards, processes, and procedures.

What You’ll Bring to the Role
Essential:
- In depth knowledge of HSW legislation, best practice and its practical application.
- Experience in an advisory capacity on health & Safety matters, preferably in a utility, facilities, construction or critical national infrastructure environment, ideally with some process safety experience.
- Qualified to NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
- CertIOSH minimum grading.
- Must possess a full UK driving licence.
- Dangerous Good Safety Advisor qualification.
Desirable:
- CMIOSH or CFIOSH, with at least 2 years post qualification experience.
- Technical knowledge of the water industry (experience of isolations/permits, manual handling, street works, legionella, asbestos, chemical, statutory inspections, machinery safety, and/or CDM).
- Experience of civil engineering construction projects in a health & safety consultancy role.
