Job Summary
This position is based at Ashford (Kent), Worthing
Job Description
The Health Specialist role plays a key part in strengthening the connection between nature, health and wellbeing across Sussex and Kent. Working across teams and with external partners, the postholder will help develop and deliver projects that demonstrate the value of nature-based solutions in improving health outcomes and reducing inequalities.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Leading and delivering innovative projects that bring together health, people and nature, helping to embed nature-based approaches across local and regional priorities.
- Building productive relationships with partners including NHS organisations, local authorities, voluntary sector organisations and environmental NGOs to develop shared objectives and opportunities.
- Managing procurement processes and contracts, ensuring projects are delivered effectively, achieve value for money and meet Natural England's governance requirements.
- Working independently to identify opportunities, develop project proposals and drive delivery through to successful outcomes.
- Presenting evidence, project updates and recommendations to senior managers and stakeholders, supporting informed decision-making.
- Providing expertise on urban greening and green infrastructure, promoting the role of nature in creating healthier, more resilient communities.
- Contributing to strategic programmes that improve access to nature, health and wellbeing, and environmental sustainability across Sussex and Kent.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape how nature can support healthier people and places, while helping deliver Natural England's ambitions for nature recovery and societal wellbeing.
