NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC)

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Health Visitor to join the Inverclyde HSCP Children & Families Health Visiting Team. As a Health Visitor, you will provide a high-quality, safe and effective health visiting service within the community, working collaboratively with partner agencies to support children, young people and their families.

You will manage and supervise a health visiting caseload, ensuring the delivery of evidence-based care through robust assessment, referral and communication processes. Inverclyde HSCP is committed to the principles of Getting It Right for Every Child (GIRFEC), providing children with the best possible start in life while supporting staff through ongoing learning and professional development.

All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

  • This is a permanent post working part-time hours (33)
  • These hours will be worked Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm
  • This post is based within Inverclyde HSCP Children & Families Health Visiting Team - Greenock Health Care Centre
  • Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a high-quality health visiting service to children and families within the community, working in partnership with families and a range of partner agencies to promote positive health and wellbeing.
  • Have overall responsibility for managing a health visiting caseload, ensuring safe, effective and evidence-based care through comprehensive assessment, timely referrals and effective communication.
  • Apply the GIRFEC and National Practice Model Framework to support safeguarding, early intervention and child protection, while managing risks and making informed decisions in complex situations.
  • Contribute to service development by implementing policies, procedures and service improvements, provide professional advice within multi-agency settings, and ensure children’s interests and safety remain at the centre of all decision-making.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
